About Mediation
A mediator is a neutral party. While usually an attorney, the mediator does not represent either party but works with the parties to find common ground to reach a resolution. While you do not need to have attorneys, I encourage you both to have individual consultations with attorneys to understand your rights and obligations as you go through the separation/divorce process. Mediation is confidential. Mediation can happen with just the parties or with the parties and their attorneys. Mediation allows parties to share what is important to them as they separate and allows them to create an agreement that works for them and their family with flexibility for change, if necessary. Â
Dividing couples can participate in mediation to make arrangements for their kids as well as the house and finances. You can think "outside" the box and put together an agreement that works for your family going forward allowing for growth and change in the future.

Services
My rate is $375/hour. I offer mediation through Zoom. Mediation sessions usually run two (2) hours but may go longer, if it is productive to do so. The cost of mediation is determined by the level of conflict, the issues (children, finances, separation, division of property, etc.), the ability to "hear" each other, the commitment to doing homework (gathering documents, etc.) and the willingness to work towards an agreement.
Many couples reach agreement after 3-4 two/hour sessions. There may be additional time spent outside the mediation session in which I will be reviewing documents or drafting a memo to you regarding our discussion.
